Project update

After our second release, Jason, we are now concentrating on tuning the last things before we are going to Delft to show a prototype at the Mediating Presence Conference. This will mean that no, or at least very few, new features will be included in our third release.

The main focus is to get the shared workspace working better. Since we only recently got a fully functional setup much time have been spend on trying to find a good place and distance to place the camera. We have had a tedious job tuning the camera settings, experimenting with lighting etc but things are slowly progressing but much can still be improved.

One new feature in Jason is virtual buttons. After the release we encountered a problem that the other participants could trigger the others buttons. This have now been fixed and will be included in the next release. Another problem with the buttons is that if you have not disabled auto focus the buttons can be triggered by mistake. I will therefor encourage you to set focus yourself to ensure the buttons are not accidentally pushed. Can also mention that the video stream on the virtual buttons is right now uncutted. That means that you see more than just what is shared. As the buttons function is supposed to be like layers in Photoshop the button should only be displaying the actual layer and not everything around it. This will be fixed before we are going to Delft and be included in next release.

I hope you all are enjoying our last release and that we are meeting you guys in Delft next week. We are leaving Sweden on Sunday to start preparing everything before the conference in Delft. We are looking forward to meet some of you there!

There will probably not be many more blog post before we are in Delft but we hope to document everything down there and will keep you updated how things proceeds with pictures and maybe even some movies.
